You’ve Been Trying to Make Sense of Things for Years.

Now It’s Time to Put It All Together.

You’ve always known your child was different. Maybe they were especially bright, unusually sensitive, or struggled in ways that didn’t quite fit neatly in any box.

You’ve done your best to parent with the tools you’ve had: adapting, compensating, and doing your own research along the way.

Now there’s a diagnosis that puts a name to the differences you’ve been seeing. It’s a relief in some ways but also a little overwhelming.

You may still be unsure what the diagnosis actually means, what to expect going forward, or how (and whether) you should start doing things differently.

That’s where this 5-week coaching group comes in.  This group is designed to guide you through the uncertainty and help you make sense of what’s next.

We’ll cover what neurodivergence actually is and what that means for your child’s strengths, challenges, and daily life. You’ll learn how to parent in ways that truly support your child’s needs without losing your own sanity in the process.

6-week Parent Coaching Group

Tuesdays at 6:30-7:30 on Zoom
Starts September 30, 2025

You’ve been doing your best but it’s been exhausting.

Getting a diagnosis might explain some things, but it doesn’t automatically tell you what to do next. That’s where a lot of parents get stuck. You want more guidance to help you understand what this all means and how to actually support your child in day-to-day life.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

This 5-week coaching group offers more than just expert guidance.  It’s a supportive community of parents who truly understand what you’re facing because they’re going through the same thing. Led by a psychiatrist and coach who understands the challenges, each session gives you practical tools, fresh perspectives, and the chance to share your experiences without shame or judgment.

Understand your child through a neurodivergent lens so things finally start to make sense.
Discover what really works and why the usual strategies often fall short.
Connect with other parents who share your journey, helping you feel less isolated and more supported.

Real Clients

The best part of being in the group was knowing I’m not alone in this. Other parents are facing similar challenges with their kids. There was a real sense of camaraderie, like we were all in the trenches together. That made it feel safe to not be okay, and safe to say the hard things I couldn’t always say out loud elsewhere.

I feel like I have been on a 5 year odyssey (longer if I am honest) that started as a nightmare that I am not sure I would have survived without the group.

Hi, I’m Dr. Kathleen Young and I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m a psychiatrist and certified coach who has worked with neurodivergent kids, adults, and the parents who love them.

I’m also a parent.

I’ve personally navigated this journey and I understand how confusing and overwhelming it can be to see your child struggle without clear answers or to get a diagnosis that only raises more questions, even when you have a mental health background.

That’s why I created this group: to offer clear, practical guidance and a compassionate space for parents who want to better understand their child and find support that truly makes a difference.

When You Understand the ‘Why,’ the ‘How’ Starts to Make Sense

This group walks you through a meaningful shift in how you understand your child, how you respond to challenges, and how you move forward with more calm, clarity, and compassion.

Step One
See Your Child More Clearly

Begin to understand your child through a neurodivergent lens. You’ll start to recognize what’s really going on beneath the surface and why certain strategies may not have worked.

Step two
Try New Approaches That Make Sense for Your Child

Each week, you’ll get practical suggestions to support your child in everyday life. There’s no one-size-fits-all formula but you’ll walk away with a clearer sense of what’s worth trying and why.

Step three
Feel More Grounded and Less Alone

You won’t leave with all the answers but you will leave with insight, realistic ways to approach daily challenges, and a community that understands what you’re going through. Things may still be hard, but they won’t feel as overwhelming or as lonely.

For parents who want to understand their child’s neurodivergent brain

Handle daily challenges better, and feel less alone.

Whether your child was recently diagnosed or you’re finally getting answers after years of uncertainty, this group will help you better understand your child’s nervous system differences and how they impact the behaviors you see day to day.

We’ll meet weekly on Zoom to explore foundational concepts of neurodivergence and what those actually mean for your parenting. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your child, realistic strategies to try at home, and a community of parents who understand because they are navigating many of the same challenges.

FAQs

This group is for parents of neurodivergent kids whether your child was recently diagnosed or you’re starting to see longstanding challenges through a new lens. Most families who join are parenting adolescents, but the content is relevant across ages.

That’s okay. Many parents come to this group because they suspect neurodivergence and want to understand more. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit from this work.

While the group isn’t age-restricted, most families are parenting adolescents and newly young adults. That said, the core concepts are applicable to a wide range of developmental stages, and you’re welcome to join even if your child is younger.

Each session is scheduled for one hour. I will do my best to answer all questions, so it may occasionally run over a few minutes if there are remaining questions.

The sessions will be recorded and the audio will be shared with members of the group only. You can listen and catch up at your convenience.

Yes! One registration covers both parents or caregivers in the same family. You’re welcome to attend together or separately—whatever works best for your schedule.

Each session includes teaching, practical strategies, and time for questions. While this isn’t a therapy group, you’ll have space to share your experience, ask specific parenting questions, and feel supported by others who truly understand.

No, this group is not a substitute for therapy. It’s a psychoeducational and coaching-based group designed to give you tools, knowledge, and community. If you’re unsure whether this is the right fit, feel free to reach out.
